REPORT: Steelers’ Hines Ward Joins ASU Coaching Staff…

Pittsburgh According to ESPN’s Pete Thamel, Pittsburgh Steelers legend Hines Ward is leaving the team to take a position as Arizona State’s next wide receivers coach. Having spent about a week in negotiations with Arizona State, Ward is returning to the collegiate ranks to work with wideouts. He was Florida Atlantic University’s wide receivers coach during his final college employment.

The iconic Steelers player keeps expanding his coaching background. He has had positions at FAU, head coach of the San Antonio Brahmas of the XFL, and offensive assistant with the New York Jets thus far in his career.

Throughout his fifteen years in the NFL, Ward made Pittsburgh his home, solidifying his reputation as one of the best pass catchers in Steelers history. With 1,000 receptions, 12,083 yards, and 85 touchdowns at the end of his career, Ward finished with two Super Bowl rings and a Super Bowl MVP award on his record.

The all-time great will go to Arizona State to continue leaving his mark on football history as he waits for Canton to be elected into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
